The licensing process is simple.

All you need is a college degree.

STEP 1: 

Apply for a Substitute License with the Ohio Department of Education at

http://education.ohio.gov/Topics/Teaching/Licensure/Audiences/Substitute-Licensure

Education Degrees:

Applicants who have a post-secondary degree in Education may apply for an “Education Degree-Unlimited” substitute license.

Subject-Area Degrees:

Applicants who have a post-secondary degree in a specific subject area, such as Mathematics or English, for example, may apply for the substitute license in the related subject area

All Other Degrees:

Applicants who have a post-secondary degree in an area that is not related to an available substitute licensure subject area, such as Interdisciplinary Studies or Criminal Justice, for example, may apply for the "General Substitute" license.

 STEP 2: 

Complete the Substitute Application.

If you have not been fingerprinted for educational purposes within the past 365 days, you must be fingerprinted at the Board of Education. The fee is $60 cash or check only.

If this is your first substitute license application, you will need our district IRN #: 046607.
